Travel every day around the World at the table of Miss Saigon. More and more followers of vegetarian or vegan lifestyles are in the world. This change concerns the search for healthier eating habits and lifestyles, greater environmental concerns, greater awareness of the need to protect animals (as they have no way of doing so themselves) and, above all, a new balance and relation of man with all the factors and elements that surround him. Miss Saigon’s vegetarian cuisine of the World is, above all, a manifesto, but also a desire and a willingness to share experiences in harmony with the world. Through cooking, a balanced diet, consciousness and responsibility, it is possible to universalize the fundamental values for our balance and well-being. Inspired by Pucini’s opera, “Madame Butterfly”, the vegetarian cuisine of Miss Saigon’s World is a unique project with more than 700 dishes already made, and every day we try to innovate, experiment and create. With a weekly menu where the dishes are different every day! Always a passionate adventure! In 2016 it was the defining year for the Miss Saigon kitchen to become a 100% vegan cuisine, a process that was gradual and conscious based on accumulated experience and learning. 1 of the 3 dishes daily is always Gluten free and there are also always desserts without sugar and gluten free. More than 80% of the products used are organic and we always use the freshest, best quality ingredients and whenever possible of national production. So much more to say and to do … and it is what we do every day, making life better, easier, with pleasure, passion and well being for all those who cross and who are already part of us! It is recommended to book 1-2 days in advance. Reservations accepted only by the website (www.miss-saigon.pt) or by phone. Only 50% of the total space capacity is reserved. The remaining 50% are intended for customers without reservation, and the service is done on a first-come, first-served basis.

Whether you are a long-time vegeterian or vegan or you’ve ever found yourself sitting across from one of us, you have probably already encountered that what the devil does this person even eat moment when the waiter first hears about you wanting a vegetarian or vegan meal. For vegetarians all they used to be able to offer is fried cheese, for vegans today the most common option is a plate of vegetables. Not overly exciting, is it? The idea of a gourmet vegan restaurant has been cooking for years. It all began with Veganski gurman, a blog that we have thouroughly enjoyed for years on end. We were thrilled to watch and support the rise of the Slovenian Vegan Society, vegetarian and vegan festivals and an ever growing choice of vegan food in stores and individual restaurants in Ljubljana. Nyama is the next logical step forward. With food, which is equally as pleasurable to taste, as it is to look at, and the opportunity to relax in the warm and happy atmosphere of the restaurant, dining at Nyama will surely make for a deligtful and well-rounded experience. A big promise to make, right? Come and see (or rather, taste) for yourself!

Veg Out is one of the few cafes or restaurants in Kyoto where vegans and vegetarians can enjoy a healthy meal in line with their lifestyle. This slow, airy vegetarian cafe on the banks of the Kamogawa River was born with the aim of providing our customers with a space in which you can experience simple pleasures in mind, body, and spirit. We have also had a bit of fun with the naming of Veg Out: the combination of an abundance of local, organic vegetables deliciously prepared which you can enjoy to your heart’s desire, and “veg out” style relaxation—losing yourself in the sound of the river, the play of clouds and the open sky, and the majestic views of the Higashiyama mountains of eastern Kyoto. In the midst of the plethora of diet information and food choices in modern society, Veg Out also seeks to provide newcomers with an introduction to the simple beauty and happiness associated with the vegan/vegetarian lifestyle. In other words, everyone who enjoys fresh, delicious food is welcome! For those of us living in the modern world, it is easy to forget our connection to the soil and to the green earth, and the unchanging truth that we as humans are an intricate part of Nature, and we all are part of the great Wheel of Existence. One of the basic tenets of Buddhism is the concept that everything has Buddha-nature: everything is connected. Therefore we humans, for our long-term health and well-being, must put ourselves in accord with the natural environment, and put into our bodies foods closest to their natural state. Consequently, we have made exclusive contracts with local farmers who share our philosophy and have put great care into the cultivation of the plants and grains they supply to us. We also invite the ‘vegetable connoisseurs’ among you to try some of the local heirloom vegetables (called “Kyo-yasai”, with a thousand-year history) that we have on our menu. From all the staff of Veg Out to all of our valued customers, we express our “kansha”, or gratitude, for you with each and every dish we prepare with all our heart.
