3 Reviews on “Homegrown Smokehouse & Vegan Deli”
This is not your average smokehouse and deli! All items are vegan, and you can get comforting options like a vegan Philly Cheesesteak, a variety of subs and even a ginormous burrito stuffed with mac and cheese! Come hungry, or split something with two (even three) people and definitely try out something with their vegan meats. If you come to Portland, you have to stop by either here or their food stand!
I first walked into Homegrown Smokehouse after my first snack choice, Vtopia, was closed during the only window of time I had that day to check them out. Confident I hadn’t just walked a mile from my hotel to leave empty-bellied, and knowing the Smokehouse was also on my list of Portland must-tastes, I stopped in next door only to be handed a free sandwich while I mulled over my selection, simply for being in the right place at the right time. Amazing, friendly service, and people who clearly care for their customers and for what they do! I also bought some of their BBQ beans while I was there, and enjoyed a healthy portion of each.
The following day, immediately after Portland VBFF (now Eat Drink Vegan) we headed over to split something “light,” and the owner snickered when we ordered the Macnocheeto Burrito, a gargantuan, 2-pound burrito stuffed with bbq soy curls, house-made mac no-cheese, BBQ beans, and a mess of other delicious things. We were also surprised with a sampling of their house-made seitan schmeats while we waited for the burrito to arrive.
This place is solid in my book, and that is not because I received surprise free food 😉 Support these guys when you’re in PDX!
FAVORITE spot for comfort vegan food in Portland. These guys just opened a brick and mortar location too so less of a wait. Seriously, they have a loyal following but it is so worth it! The vegan meats they make are well crafted. You have to admire the creativity for a vegan deli to exist!
