1 Review on “Back to Eden Bakery Cart”
Back to Eden was so good we ended up there twice in as many days. I wasn’t able to make it to the brick and mortar location while in town, but the cart on Division did not disappoint! As with any bakery, I imagine getting there earlier in the day yields the most selection, but Back to Eden provided a good variety even late into the evening.
During our first visit, our group split a passionfruit cupcake, baked root beer donut, and a sundae called the Mount St Helens, which had gummy bears, Dandies marshmallows, and a house-made berry sauce over Chicago Vegan Foods soft serve (the vanilla was on the fritz, so we got chocolate under all of those toppings). The quality of everything was really wonderful all around. By description alone, the sundae is not something I would have ordered on my own, but I liked it. I was especially pleased and surprised by the donut because I don’t go for baked donuts (come on, they’re cakes with holes baked in the middle, that’s not a donut. Message me, let’s talk about it). However, the root beer glaze was fantastic, and the flavor more than made up for the fried texture I crave when I order a donut! The passionfruit frosting was my favorite part of the cupcake. I wish the cake itself had also been infused with passionfruit, that would have taken the flavor to a whole new level.
The next day, we split a classic banana split (they were out of cherries, but that didn’t stop us!), an oatmeal cream pie, carrot cake and chocolate almond cupcakes, and a decadent piece of peanut butter fudge. Again, everything was amazing. In general, I just don’t think I’m a cupcake person, but I devoured my fair share of everything pictured, cupcakes included, and went back for the pb fudge later that night when I was back at my B&B.
Long story long, Back to Eden Bakery is a no-brainer when you’re in Portland! I can’t wait to go back and sample their savory selections, cheesecakes, tarts, and more.
