The same goes for its menu, which comprises a mixture of Arabian, Mediterranean and European dishes at reasonable prices. Starters are basic, with the likes of Hoummos and Taboleh joined by moist vegetable pakora. From a very good vegetarian selection (The Bay Tree was once vegan-only and still cooks meat separately), a steamy stew is rich in flavour and texture, with large pieces of nicely simmered veg. There are also pasta dishes, a children’s menu for fussy tots, and discounts for students. There’s no wine available, but if you grab some from the nearby shops on your way in, staff will happily provide glasses and corkage for free.

The concept is the brainchild of Amanda Bhalla – “My Husband and I frequently dine out and one day realised there was a niche in the market for a high quality family friendly vegetarian restaurant, the concept was born”. “We decided we wanted to open a restaurant that was not only comfortable and beautiful, we wanted great music, and we wanted the food to be delicious and authentic”. We specifically decided on creating a concept where you would share your food as this is a traditional method of eating at home, thus all our dishes are sharing plate/tapas sizes, our range of dishes compliment each other well and will enhance your dining experience. The menu for Usha’s has been designed and inspired by Usha Bhalla, my Mother-in-law, who incidentally is an amazing cook, in consultation with Sameer Sehgal: formerly of The Dorchester Hotel, London and currently the Speciality Head Chef at Armani Hotels & Resorts’ exclusive Amal Armani hotel in Dubai.

Inspired by delicious japanese noodle bars and japanese-inspired flavours, wagamama launched in 1992 as an exciting and inclusive casual dining experience that continues to this day. in japanese, our name means ‘naughty child’, or ‘one who is wilful and determined’ a good example of that determination is the art of ‘kaizen’, meaning ‘good change’. this philosophy sits right at our heart. it shapes every dish we create, and pushes us to find better ways in all that we do. we’re restless spirits. forever creating and making things better we’ve been practising kaizen since 1992, when we opened our first doors in london’s bloomsbury. inspired by fast-paced, japanese ramen bars and a celebration of asian food, wagamama burst into life. we set out to create a unique way of eating. bringing the fresh, nourishing, flavours of asia to all that was 20 years ago now. two whole decades to sharpen skills and refine recipes. to play with spices and discover tastes. we continue to get better with every day Wagamama has a separate allergens list and modifications menu, which you can look at on request. The allergens menu and the modifications menu list what is already vegan, and what can be modified (and how) to make it vegan.

We make the noodles, dumplings and all the other dishes ourselves from fresh ingredients with no artificial colourings or preservatives. For too long, vegetarians have been a neglected minority, struggling to find a non-vegetarian restaurant that offers a reasonable selection. Good news! Chop Chop is the answer: because Jian, our founder, used to cook for her parents as she grew up in northern China and her father was a vegetarian, no less than one third of our menu consists of wonderfully delicious vegetarian dishes. You will find below 24 dishes, many of which you will never have tasted before and are only available in our award-winning restaurant or through our city-wide delivery service. Almost all of the vegetarian options are or can be made vegan.
