I didn’t know much about this place before coming here, other than the fact that they serve a really good purple pudding. The menu says that you can either pick a pre-designed bowl on the menu, or you can build your own which is the option our group went for.
We ordered a bowl with delicious items like a flavored rice, maple-seasoned tofu, broccoli and marinated mushrooms, almonds and coconut flakes, and a chimichurri sauce. This really hit the spot while also feeling like I was eating something with a lot of nutrients in it. In addition to the Purple Potato Pudding with Cashews that we ordered (which I couldn’t get enough of), the staff surprised us with an extra dessert! They brought out the Mexican Chocolate Pudding, which also happens to be vegan and I really loved the flavor of this one too.
This place is a great spot to check out if you’re looking to eat healthier while traveling. They put the calorie counts of all the menu items right next to their names, so you get an idea of how much you’re eating. They even mark all the vegan options with a green “+” so that is also extremely helpful. Right now, Purple Potato is located inside of a larger restaurant called Yonaka, but it sounds like it will be moving to its own devoted location soon!
I didn’t know what to expect from Purple Potato, but it came highly recommended by our vegan guide for the day, and it ended up being one of my favorite stops in Vegas! They are a build your own bowl restaurant during the day, and situated inside of another restaurant that has evening hours.
They do have pre-made bowls you can order, but I think the easier things for vegans to do at this omni establishment is to make their own like we did. Their maple smoked tofu is absolutely incredible, as is the chimichurri dressing. There are so many flavors and textures to choose from when building your bowl, it’s great.
They also have a couple of vegan puddings we tried– a mexican chocolate pudding with mixed nuts and a purple potato pudding (say that 5 times fast) with cashew cream. Both were good, but the purple potato pudding blew me away with its rich and velvety texture, and flavor like a delicious pumpkin pie.
Definitely visit Purple Potato when you’re in Vegas!
