As a human race, it is becoming more and more obvious that our diet – and the way we eat – is changing: Meat is moving off center-stage and the spotlight is turning to fresh fruits and vegetables.
At The Butcher’s Daughter, we treat fruits and vegetables as a butcher would meat: We chop, fillet and carve fresh produce into healthy vegetarian dishes and press them into pretty juices.
The Butcher’s Daughter serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and weekend brunch in a 35-seat light-filled space. During the warmer months, our sidewalk terrace expands with an additional 30 seats outside. We take pride in our daily-changing menu, which is 100% vegetarian and non-dairy. Most of our menu items are vegan and gluten-free, and we can always prepare substitutions for most dietary restrictions.

2 Reviews on “The Butcher's Daughter Venice”
I really enjoyed the meal I had at The Butcher’s Daughter in Venice Beach back in December. The weather was really nice, and we were seated in a covered area that still felt like we were outside, without actually having to deal with things like wind or too much direct sunlight. I really loved the ambience throughout the entire place.
We also experienced super helpful and kind service while we were there. Being an all-vegan group at a vegetarian spot, it was important to get help identifying which items could be veganized, and our waiter did a stellar job. He was also really upfront about which dishes might not be as delicious with a substitution or omission of a non-vegan item, which I thought was really important.
Then, there was the food. The sweet stuff spoke to me more than the savory, but that’s no surprise to me at all. The vegan raspberry butter they serve with the vegan brioche french toast had us all fooled, it was so creamy and decadent in both flavor and texture. The pancakes were really good, too. I also enjoyed a turmeric maple latte with steamed almond milk and crushed black pepper on top. For me, the cinnamon roll we shared looked better than it tasted, and was a bit dry. The other items we ordered weren’t as memorable for me, but my overall feeling about the meal was happy and fulfilled, for sure.
If you have a Butcher’s Daughter location near you, or are traveling by one sometime, don’t miss it!
LA has a lot of restaurants that are 100% vegan, so I didn’t naturally gravitate towards the Butcher’s Daughter. However I was pleasantly surprised that they had so many vegan options (although I did find it odd that they didn’t have tofu or other options to replace the eggs on their menu). I really enjoyed everything we ordered from their breakfast menu, and even their savory options. I especially love their French Toast and Pancakes, and it’s great that they offer some special drink options like juices and warm beverages.
The staff here was very friendly and was able to accommodate our table and let us know how everything could be made vegan. It was a beautiful day out and I’m thankful that we got to utilize their outdoor seating during our brunch, though the inside of the restaurant has a wonderful ambience as well!
The Butcher’s Daughter definitely has some more decadent options on their menu but I felt that many of the dishes offered were fairly healthy. They offer things like smoothies, bowls, and healthy sides. I think this place could easily be entirely vegan, since their vegan meals are so well thought out. If and when that happens, I would absolutely give this place a 5-star rating.
