  • Excited about possibly going to Prince Edward Island this summer to bike across the island on the Confederation Trail. Anyone done this or a bike tour like this before? Not sure what I’m going to eat!!

Okay, so looking for suggestions in Fukuoka, Kyoto, and Tokyo for places, or neighbourhoods, to stay in. I think we will just be in Fukuoka for one night (we fly in to there), then head to Kyoto for a few days (day trip to Osaka?), then do our walk to Tokyo (not the whole way, there are trains involved), then we fly to HK for a few days… All…[Read more]

    • We haven’t been to Fukuoka, but both Kyoto and Tokyo have excellent mass transportation systems so wherever you stay, it is really easy to get around. Especially if you use the Google Maps app (you can pre-download maps for each city so need to worry about coverage or roaming charges). I am not familiar with all the neighborhoods, but during our…[Read more]

      • one more suggestion … purchasing your JR Pass (for all inter-city and some local trains) is much cheaper abroad than it is if you have to purchase it in Japan. Enjoy your trip.

Throwing it back to… MANATEE!!!!!!! We saw this girl in the marina after our eco tour in the keys… she’s obviously banged up a bit, but seemed to want to say hi… I might have cried a little bit (they’re my favourite)

Get a travel credit card… for the insurance! Usually travel credit cards come with an annual fee (sometimes waived the first year), but they can be really helpful if you get stuck somewhere. Be sure you understand the rules (if you have to put the whole flight on the card, or if you can split it, how long the delay has to be, etc) but the…[Read more]

    • @jenns Definitely good travel advice. Such a great idea especially if you can get the first year waved. We have an American Express with insurance as well. Haven’t had to use it yet but it will come in handy one day. 🙂

I recently made a road trip while moving from Parker, Colorado to Philadelphia and made a few fun food stops along the way in Omaha, Chicago, and Cleveland for my birthday weekend. Some of my favorites were Modern Love Omaha, Chicago Diner, and a vegan-friendly grilled cheese restaurant in Ohio called Melt!…[Read more]

    Hey!
I’m Jamie, from upstate NY – traveling across Europe with my best friend in a week!!!!! Then I’m off to Brisbane Australia to au pair there for a year. The Rochester Vegan Community is the BEST. We have some AMAZING vegan food here that i will be SO sad to leave 🙁 But i’m super excited for my travels and to find new favorites! I’ve been…[Read more]

    • I was going to go to Brisbane when I was in Oz, but ended up having to change my plans… if you get the chance, definitly head to the Barrier Reef!… not a whole lot of options in Cairns, but enough you can make do (they even have vegan options on the boats). And I think they just opened the world’s largest vegan grocery store in Melbourne??…[Read more]

    Hello from Medellin, Colombia!
I am so happy to join you guys! I have been vegan for 4 years now, before that vegetarian since my early teenage years. I quit my old corporate job in Switzerland last August and have travelled ever since. I am a Yoga teacher, so I mainly combine traveling with teaching Yoga, which I find the perfect way to travel. I…[Read more]

    • Welcome to the site Julia! We would love to hear more about the vegan community in Columbia.

    • I NEED to get to South America soon…. I will totally take you up on your offer if I end up there 🙂

  • On Saturday we joined over 100 people to stand up against animal abuse and captivity at the terrible abusement park that is Marineland, in Niagara Falls, Canada.
We hope that we don’t have to protest again next year, but if we do, we’ll be there!

These beautiful boys are the newest residents at the local sanctuary I volunteer at, and they are absolutely amazing!! I had a perfect Sunday caring for all of the residents, hosting a new volunteer orientation, and getting to know these three 🙂

    • A little about their background – they were rescued from an animal hoarding situation in Boston, spent some time in Florida, and then made their way to us last week. They are young, shy, and very skinny, but they are in good hands now. Their collars will be removed as soon as they trust us enough to get close to them <3

    • I’m so glad that they have someone to take good care of them now.

  • @codyk And I are having a lazy day back in Canada enjoying some down time and damn good toast! 😉
What are you up to today?

Throwback to a lovely time exploring the neighborhoods and streets around Toronto a week ago.

  • This is almost twice as much as what I traveled with during my 8 month global trek last year. Haha!! Still feels like too much! 🙂 4 dresses, 3 casual tank tops, 3 nicer tank tops, 4 t-shirts, 3 long sleeve shirts, 2 sweaters, 1 blazer, 2 pair of shorts, 2 leggings, 1 pair of pants, 3 pair socks, 2 comfy bras and 1 sports, 7 undies, 1 pair of…[Read more]

I might have found my favorite place for traveling: Sunrock Hostel Corfu (it’s called a Hostel, but in my opinion it is more sort of a resort because they also have private rooms and so on). Really this place is wonderful. It is a small family business and they are running a hostel and an organic farm. The mother of the family, Madalena, cooks…[Read more]

  • This past weekend we paid a visit to Beechwood Donuts in St. Catherines, Niagara Falls, and holy man are their doughnuts ever good!!

They are the closest we have had to the yeasty classic donut of our non-vegan days.

My personal fave is the birthday cake.

A doughnut filled with light whipped cream, and topped with mashed vanilla birthday…[Read more]

  • I just spent 2 weeks volunteering at an all-vegan organic farm and stray animal rescue center in NE India. Here\’s a video I put together about the experience… enjoy! 🙂

I notice that Playa del Carmen MEXICO is not mentioned. I love this city because there is many all vegan restaurants and also a couple of raw restaurants. They are all delicious!

    • @northgirl If you had to choose one as your fave or recommend, which one would it be?

    • One: Oh Natural. It’s a whole foods store and a restaurant. I love their polenta lasagna and also their Vegan bowl made with quinoa, cashews, dried cherries, almond cheese… yum

  • The day has finally come! The @vegantravel team has arrived in Ontario and we are excited!

We had a great time in Niagara Falls! We chugged maple syrup, sang Leonard Cohen songs, sampled some brewskie’s, visited a Tim Hortons, and of course admired the falls.

We’re pumped to show @alan, @shannon, and @jaclynmiller a good time around the big…[Read more]
