Dutch style meets creativity at this laboratory turned hostel in Amsterdam Noord
When we saw this old, 1920’s laboratory sitting empty on the banks of the River IJ, we just knew we had to bring it back to life! Simple but stylish Dutch design lets the building’s original features shine whilst creating playful and welcoming social spaces. Find the hostel in Amsterdam Noord, one of the city’s most creative and culturally vibrant areas. Amsterdam’s famous sights are just a hop, skip and a jump away from this central location!
To get to us: Step aboard the free, five minute ferry from Amsterdam Centraal Station to the other side of the River IJ (it runs 24/7!) and ClinkNOORD is only 400 metres away (get full directions).

VERY LARGE HOSTEL! Something like 1000 beds? Awesome atmosphere for young travelers. Solo-travelers night, karaoke night, ping pong, morning runs, yoga–anything you could think of! Full self-service kitchen. Cheap bike rentals. Awesome service from their staff and clean accommodations. Located in a perfect area and there is a free ferry running 24/7 to take you from the Noord district to the central station.
ClinkNOORD was one of three places we tried out in Amsterdam and it had a long list of Pro’s for me.
The location was ideal- out of the way of tourists, directly across the water from the main train station by 2 minute ferry, right next to the Eye and the new building next to it (with the most amazing view of Amsterdam), and I think the Noord district is the new up-and-coming area of Amsterdam!
The lobby was so great for meeting other travellers, working on laptops, playing pingpong, etc.!
Bike rentals through the hostel made it incredibly easy to get around town as well.
Last but not least, the full service kitchen is always a win in my book!
