Free Bird Cafe is a sweet vegan and vegetarian restaurant that we look forward to visiting every time we are in town.
All of the profits go to the Thai freedom house, an education community centre that benefits indigenous and Burmese refugees.
Sadly, our last few visits have been a little underwhelming. Most of the food here is quite delicious and very fresh, but the prices are quite high for some items (tomato and hummus sandwich), and my tofu scramble was extremely fishy tasting, although they absolutely do not use fish sauce, (just a bad day I guess?) still recommend paying them a visit as their burmese salads are a must try, as is their vegan jok, a hot purple rice breakfast porridge served with fresh ginger and fried garlic.
If you do visit freebird Cafe, stick with Burmese dishes, and the vegan pancake
