Freshly pressed juices and made-to-order healthy, raw vegan foods in Christchurch, New Zealand. We live in a world beset by a variety of issues. Species are becoming extinct, forests are being cleared to make way for corporate profits and so many other aspects of the environment are being destroyed at an alarming rate. Our mission is to save the planet from corporate greed and give people a chance to vote for more healthy and positive choices like Antidote.

The Lotus-Heart is dedicated to conscious living, healthy eating and strives to create a global cuisine naturally. We use the freshest ingredients, locally grown and organic where possible, pure vegetable oils, avoiding the use of microwaves unless specifically requested due to time-constraints. Whilst our restaurant is pure vegetarian, we respect and honour the choices and requirements of others and offer daily options for vegan, gluten-free and raw food diets. We serve a wide-ranging selection of drinks and are continually researching, trialing and discovering high quality, nourishing beverages that soothe the mind and delight the palate. Our resulting drinks menu is extensive, comprised of unique and hard to find teas and tisanes, freshly squeezed juices, fabulous smoothies, superfoods, tonic elixirs, fairly traded coffee, organic herbal coffees, cultured drinks – kombucha, ginger beer and kefir – prepared on site, specialty drinks from around the globe, and much more. We make our own almond milk in support of our vegan friends. With over 120 choices we hope you will find a beverage to suit your taste, temperament and mood. Enter the heart of the lotus, a vegetarian haven where we sincerely hope your meal will not only satisfy your tastebuds, but also nurture your heart and soul. There is also a small health food shop inside.

The finest Arabica beans, roasted to perfection and served with love. That’s how we like to do business. Over a cup of coffee. Our stores are havens from the cut and thrust of everyday life and provide communities with unique, gorgeous environments to hang out, catch up, slow down or get going. We have a family of owners who share our passion for people, and who love the culture of coffee. From first thing in the morning right through to late at night you’ll find us extracting, steaming, grinding, running, serving, wiping, chatting, caring, gossiping, and gas-bagging with our guests and having a great time with our staff.

We do a wide range of authentic home cooked vegetarian / vegan meals without onion, garlic, leek, shallot and chive. No ‘MSG’ added in our cooking. We also offer a range of wheat-less option meals. Our Entrée ranges from Northern China’s pan-fried dumpling & steam buns to Southern China’s spring rolls & wonton. The famous Malaysian curry potato ‘samosas’ are also in our menu. Vegetarian kebab, sticky rice with seaweed, crispy tofu and potato fries are also available.

C1 Espresso offers some vegan options on their menu. Following the quakes of 2011, C1 Espresso rebuilt in the heart of Christchurch’s High Street. Re-established in the iconic High Street Post Office, C1 Espresso shares this address with Alice in Videoland (a boutique video store & movie theatre), the Christchurch Art Gallery (temporary Art Gallery) & The Physics Room (project art space & residency). Once more we are serving up our unique brand of pioneering espresso & big breakfasts. It’s the same (but different) warm, welcoming atmosphere, with the same (but different) professional staff. We worked hard to make sure that there are a few surprises too, with a bit of the old C1 thrown in with the new. We re-opened on the 10th of November. We appreciate all your support and patience, and hope to see you all soon.
