History of our Family and The house Originally called Ganpules, they were once employed as warriors and advisors with the Peshwas, who gifted them a village. They came and settled in Kotawde, but another family laid claim to the land. The Ganpules put forth a proposition that one representative from both sides would burrow in a hole; whoever could last longer would be the true owner. The wily Ganpules stocked up their hole with provisions, outlasted the opponent and got their land back. The Peshwas granted them the title ‘sa-hastra-buddhi’ or someone who had knowledge of both weapons and brains. About Host Atithi Parinay Homestay is Started by Ms. Medha & Vasudha Sahasrabudhe; the Mother – Daughter duo in January 2010. Medha Sahasrabudhe Medha Sahasrabudhe, co-owner and founder of Atithi Parinay, is an interior designer by profession. Starting Atithi Parinay was a mere coincidence. A figment of thought shared between two friends 7 years ago, which turned into a homestay after dedicated years of hard work. Medha’s vision for Atithi Parinay was to create a place where people could experience life in a farm, just as she had during her childhood. She used to spend her holidays in these farmlands, and eventually shifted to Kotawade to bring Atithi Parinay to reality. It is a perfect blend of a rural lifestyle and a peaceful getaway. She educated herself in the field of “Ecology and Environment” from the Ecological Society, Pune, to help cater to the vision. Atithi Parinay has been crafted keeping in mind the sanctity of the environment hence it has eco-friendly living and organic farming at its core. Medha has turned it into a multi-purpose venture, an eco-friendly and ecological hub, a great getaway home and also a source of income for the local farmers. Medha’s enthusiasm and dedication has made Atithi Parinay what it is today. Vasudha Sahasrabudhe is a home maker and the backbone of Atithi Parinay. She is the inspiration and support that has shaped it. With love and dedication, she has made Atithi Parinay warm and beautiful over the years. Her pleasant personality and welcoming attitude makes all of our guests feel at home in an instance. She makes Atithi Parinay the ‘home’ it promises to be. Being a host comes naturally to her, and now, at the age of 61 , she is still helping to make Atithi Parinay an unforgettable experience for all.

Plitra bay in the Laconic gulf in Laconia is the home of Porto Grana, our new exciting site for relaxing and fueling up with positive energy and great raw vegan food! We chose the name that directly relates to the history of this amazing place, as by the word “grana” the Venetians called the special dye kermes or “prinokokki” which was exported from the port of Ancient Asopos which belonged to Monemvasia city state of the time. Porto Grana Raw Yoga Hiking Retreat is an exclusive centre offering on-going small group lifestyle retreats. We serve discerning guests a unique and healing combination of a yoga intensive coupled with a delicious cleansing raw vegan diet, daily hiking adventures and inspiring evening discussions in the magnificent Laconian gulf. While you leave your alarm clocks, over-scheduled, noisy, modern lives behind, you will slip back into the natural circadian rhythms of your birthright in our pristine location. Retreat, relax, rest, repair, renew, re-discover and replenish your most original self. Our Daily program includes: Group yoga instruction (6 mornings a week, beginners to advanced) Three locally grown and fresh picked yummy vegan raw cleansing meals Fresh herb teas Hiking in the hills and mountains of Monemvasia county Raw food prep classes Evening discussions/DVDs on a variety of subjects ranging from Yoga, Cutting edge nutrition, Ayurveda, and Deep Green living Our Diet: We offer a 100% RAW plant-based, nutritionally balanced, alkaline diet of locally grown tropical fruits, sprouts, veggies, nuts and seeds prepared in simple yet delicious recipes. Our meal plan is supremely nourishing, cleansing and ultimately very satisfying. Some guests may want to add water fasting days to their retreat. Eco Activities: Include daily cycling, nature walks and hikes in pristine beaches and gorges with sparkling rivers and small scale waterfalls. Afternoons are open to help in the garden, chill in a hammock, read, write, draw, meditate and nap. Relaxing Thai massages are available at reasonable rates. Getting Here: Flying into Kalamata: The airport is just off the city of Kalamata. Flights may arrive late night. We can recommend a hotel to stay at near the airport, or you can choose your own in Kalamata. Depending on your flight, the following morning we will arrange car/shuttle pickup to our property (an amazing 2 and a half hour drive thru the historic mountain of Taygetos) arriving at Porto Grana Raw Yoga Hiking Retreat in Plitra by mid-day. Since many flights leave Kalamata early morning, you may need to spend the night near the airport on your return as well. Please keep this in mind while planning your trip. Flying into Athens airport: A car will pick you up and bring you straight to our site after a 4 hours journey through the Peloponnese passing from the city of Sparta.

A sublimely beautiful stretch of golden sand which for decades remained known only to a select few traveling surfers and yogis with the tenacity to get to, and survive in this stunningly rugged jungle environment. As word spread of it’s natural beauty, crazy good waves, and jaw dropping array of biodiversity visitor numbers increased, accessibility improved and the town evolved at a leisurely pace into the holistic yoga, surfing and lifestyle Shangri-La that it is today. Despite increasing development, town residents have worked diligently to ensure the natural beauty that first attracted them does not fall prey to the rampant commercialism that have affected many of the neighboring tourist towns. Under Playa Guiones rustic exterior lies a dynamic and modern infrastructure which offers visitors all they could need from delicious dining experiences to swanky hotels. Despite a range of quality nightlife options generally it’s a go to bed early, and get up at sunrise type of town, which given the range of activities on offer is understandable. After rising to the sounds of breaking waves and monkeys howling many visitors kick off their day with a dawn patrol surf session as this is when the offshore winds are usually at their best. For less experienced surfers there’s no shortage of surf schools happy to take you under their wing and show you the ropes. After a morning spent battling the waves it’s up to you whether you want to walk on the beach, take a bike ride, an ATV or horse back tour, a stand up paddle or kayaking session, a sport fishing trip or just spend the day idling away the hours from the comfort of a hammock. Sunset at Guiones has become almost a ceremonial event for the many locals and tourists who gather in the early evening to witness this spectacular light show, catch up with friends over a cerveza, and if they’re lucky catch a glimpse of the ‘green flash’ a second as the sun dips below the horizon. As night falls Playa Guiones chefs, bar staff and live musicians begin preparing a huge variety of culinary and entertainment options for you to enjoy, most of which are only a short walk away.

A 10 minute walk to the North in Nosara lies what many consider to be one of the best and most beautiful beaches in the Guanacaste region. Playa Pelada is a sheltered half moon bay where the laid back atmosphere and calm waters make the perfect place for families to spend the day relaxing. In comparison to the relative bustle of neighboring Playa Guiones, Playa Pelada has a seductively tranquil tropical ambiance guaranteed to leave you feeling relaxed, refreshed and rejuvenated. After a swim in the calm, clear, turquoise ocean Pelada is a great place to unwind in the shade of the many overhanging palm trees. Whether it be reading a book, taking a nap, enjoying an appetizer or cocktail, Playa Pelada is a great place to experience the picture postcard ‘Pura Vida’ of costa Rica at it’s finest.

Honolua Bay is a peaceful bay with beautiful snorkeling. They bay has a ban on fishing, so you can enjoy your time there without having to trip over fishing lines or see people fishing. This also means that there is a great number of many different kinds of fish in the bay to see. Around the dropoff of the reef, one can sometimes see dolphins, manta ray, etc. Turtles are almost guaranteed, and even an octopus has been spotted. The bay has a parking lot with free parking and a portapotty, but there is no lifeguard on duty. Mango trees and other fruit trees surround the bay and make for great snacking opportunities.

Hulopoe Beach at Manele Bay is a gorgeous white sand beach with some of Hawaii’s best snorkeling. And it is a lovely day trip from Maui. The Maui-Lanai Ferry departs and returns three times a day from Lahaina to Lanai (Hulopoe Beach is a 15-20 minute walk from the piers). During peak times and busy seasons you will need to buy your ferry tickets at least the day before your visit. Hulopoe is a massive and beautiful white sand beach, that due to it’s secluded location is one of the less frequented beaches you can visit in Hawaii. It also has lots of conveniences such as two rest rooms, multiple beach showers, picnic benches at the back of the beach and in the nearby park and camp grounds, beautiful trees offering shaded areas, and some of the best snorkeling on the Hawaiian Islands that you can reach without a private boat. And if you are camping, they even offer a few campsites just a couple hundred meters / yards away from this idyllic beach. Bring your own Food: They have a basic store at the dock at Lanai, but it is probably best to plan on brining food for the day with you. They have plenty of “relatively” inexpensive and vegan friendly groceries and restaurants in Lahaina. The Four Seasons Resort Lanai: The restaurant at The Four Seasons Resort Lanai does offer a few vegan meal and appetizer options, but unless you are prepared to pay a minimum of $30 per person for lunch at the resort (not counting drinks or appetizers), we suggest bringing your own food with you. But the resort is gorgeous and does have the best view of Hulopoe Beach and Manele Bay, so it is still well worth taking the walk up there.
