1 Review on “Rifugio Romano”
Rifugio Romano is an Italian restaurant about a 7 minute walk from the Termini station in Rome.
The space is quite small, but there is an option to enjoy your meal at a table outdoors as well.
The restaurant is not completely vegan, but the menu has a great variety of vegan options to choose from, as well as vegan labelled red and white wines.
Our first meal in Rome was not a disappointment. We started with an antipasto plate of arancini (fried rice ball), hummus, marinated tofu, fried bread, and a lemon mayo dip. Everything on the platter was fresh, and tasty. It vanished before our eyes.
For the main course, Giselle had to go with the seitan stuffed ravioli, as she can’t remember the last time she enjoyed a proper ravioli.
The pasta was freshly made and well cooked to al dente, and the minced seitan perfectly spiced. Topped with a rich tomato cream sauce, it was an incredible first meal in Rome.
I chose a delicious piping hot calzone. This pizza pocket was stuffed with potatoes, seitan, olives, and mushrooms, and smothered in a white cream sauce.
The service at Rifugio Romano was friendly and prompt, and I was even offered an iced Limoncello at the end of our meal. Limoncello is Italy’s famous lemon liqueur, and it was a sweet treat after a meal that was too filling for dessert.
We hope to return once more to Rifugio Romano because those pizzas looked incredible!!
