Hey @aprilbien, @mindfulwanderlust and I tend to work 4-5 months out of the year and then we travel the rest. We live very minimally and don’t buy a lot of stuff so that we can use our money to travel. Currently we are in Costa Rica with only a few days left to go in our most recent 5 month journey. We managed to save enough money in 5 months to travel Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Panama, and Costa Rica for 5 months.

Great question @aprilbien! In my early 20’s I traveled for a year and a half through Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa. I only had the little bit of money I had saved from part time jobs while I was at university so I traveled very cheaply. I shopped in local groceries, made my own meals and rarely ate out, took random jobs along the way (waited tables, tended bar, picked fruits, etc.), and found some cool places I was able to volunteer at that had a lot of young tourists and had some really nice perks beyond room and board.
@codyk if you don’t mind me asking, what type of job do you have? I would love to do that to work for 4-5 months and then travel for the rest of the year.

@aprilbien I work as a pipe layer (construction) and Giselle works as a bartender. You could have any job and just save as much as you can before taking off 🙂
