• Swung by upstate NY last week to visit the fam and had to stop in at Honest Weight Food Coop in Albany. Their hot/salad bar is always packed with vegan options. Plus they’ve got a great freshly pressed juice bar that knocks ’em out of the park!

  • I’ve been house- and cat-sitting in the Park Slope are of Brooklyn recently and am enjoying diving into some new (and “old”) foodie fixes. Yay! (1) breakfast sandwich from Orchard Grocer, (2) ice cream from Clementine Bakery, (3) breakfast scramble from Sun in Bloom, (4) tempeh reuben from Clementine Bakery, and (5) vegan burger from Brooklyn…[Read more]

  • Was in Chicago for a few days and had to stop by some of my favorite haunts: Handlebar, The Chicago Diner, and Quesadilla La Reina Del Sur. Ugh, I love that city! <3 Pictured: Soyrizo taco, Country Fried Portobello (Handlebar), and Philly Cheesesteak from the Diner!

  • There’s a new vegan restaurant in Chicago called Kāl’ish. I tried ’em out for the first time last weekend, had the crispy avocado burger with fries and the ‘special’ side of the day. It was pretty good! The fries were my favorite part. And I hear their weekend brunch options are fantastic!

  • My favorite thing at NYC Vegan Street Fair (a couple of weekends ago) was this brownie sundae from Charlies Brownies featuring a DELICIOUS heaping scoop of vanilla ice cream by Nutty Bunny! Both companies are out of Los Angeles but they flew into NYC for the event. Amazing!

  • Back in Albany/Troy, NY for a few days and I had to stop at two of my favorites: Berben & Wolff’s Vegan Delicatessen (this vegan big mac tho) and Vital Eats (the falafel salad). So good! B&W is the only fully-vegan eatery in Albany, NY and Vital Eats is a pop-up at the Troy and Saratoga Farmers Markets. They actually have a line of vegan cheese…[Read more]

  • There’s a new fully-vegan Mexican cuisine restaurant in NYC (in China Town on Broadway) that’s absolutely fantastic—it’s called ‘Jajaja.’ Check out this pretty nachos!

  • Had a solid meal at Paul & Elizabeth’s in Northampton, Massachusetts a few days ago. I enjoyed the seitan dish (noodles, veggies, seitan). Kinda reminded me of Pad Thai. Pretty good. Generally though I llooooovveee Northampton. It’s super cute and very vegan-friendly. 🙂

  • I’m completely obsessed with these vegan chocolate chip hot cakes at Superfresh Organic Cafe in Brattleboro, Vermont. They are super filling despite being tiny and adorable. Haha! I love getting them with a side of hash browns. Ugh, this restaurant is SO good!

I’ve been living here for about a month now, working with the owner of the restaurant…[Read more]

  • This is almost twice as much as what I traveled with during my 8 month global trek last year. Haha!! Still feels like too much! 🙂 4 dresses, 3 casual tank tops, 3 nicer tank tops, 4 t-shirts, 3 long sleeve shirts, 2 sweaters, 1 blazer, 2 pair of shorts, 2 leggings, 1 pair of pants, 3 pair socks, 2 comfy bras and 1 sports, 7 undies, 1 pair of…[Read more]

  • I’m moving! 😀 Well, kind of!! I leave today for Brattleboro, Vermont which is a small hippy town in southern Vermont. I’m jazzed to spend the next 5 weeks there trading free room and board for helping the vegan restaurant there with their marketing efforts. Here is a pic of one of their (Superfresh Organic Cafe) healthy “everything” bowls.…[Read more]

    • How exciting! I’ve never been to Vermont but I’m hoping to explore that side of the U.S. more in the near future!

  • Loved trying some of the vegan options at Mexican Radio in upstate NY. They have two locations (one in Hudson and one in Schenectady) – with about a dozen vegan/vegan-izable options on the menu. One of the owners if vegetarian and she’s super jazzed on making sure they have awesome vegan options. The other day I tried their chili pie, Baja no fish…[Read more]

  • I love seeing unexpected AR/vegan activism pop up in random places. 🙂 This was spotted at an intersection in downtown Brattleboro, VT. It *is* just a block away from the only vegan restaurant in the area so I guess it kind of makes sense. 🙂

  • I’m soooo impressed with the quantity and quality of vegan options a ‘The Shop’ in Troy, NY. With warm and inviting decor accented by hand crafted wooden tables and chairs, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and some amazing signature cocktails- this hip joint has it goin’ on. Plus it’s definitely the most vegan-friendly place in Troy right now. I…[Read more]

My little home town of Troy, NY is surprising me at every turn! Since coming to visit I’ve stumbled upon 3 new places that offer vegan options: Superior Merchandise Co. (a coffee shop and event space), The Shop (a bar), and Sunhee’s (a Korean restaurant). In this photo is the Smashed Avocado Toast from Superior Merchandise (sourdough toast with…[Read more]

I was blown away that this fish ‘n’ chips cafe in Brattleboro, VT carries clearly labeled vegan options, including this tofu salad. Sounds simple and maybe doesn’t look like much but by golly it was delicious. The dipping sauce was out of this world, the tofu slightly seasoned, and mixed veggies among the salad had a little kick and were very well…[Read more]

One of my favorite things to make (when I have access to a kitchen/blender) is breakfast smoothies! I usually make mine with one banana, a handful of fresh spinach, ~1 tsp cacao nibs, a half cup of frozen blueberries, 1/4 scoop vegan protein powder, a scoop of almond butter, blended and topped with organic hemp seed granola, cacao nibs, and goji…[Read more]

    • This looks so good! My go-to lately has been some kind of oatmeal– sometimes overnight oats with different add-ins the night before, but lately it’s been 1/2 cup of old fashioned rolled oats topped with a diced champagne mango & fresh bluebs, and then enough light canned coconut milk poured over the top to soak everything up. A bright way to…[Read more]

I had a great lunch at Superfresh in Brattleboro, Vermont yesterday. Superfresh is a 99% vegan restaurant (they offer honey in some things). It’s mostly organic and non-GMO as well. Super yummy and healthy! This is their mushroom burger. Oh and definitely try the mylkshakes and french fries! 🙂
