Filipino cooking might not be very vegan but if the produce is incredible!
I volunteered at an organic farm and learned a ton there, including how okra looks when it grows! I had no idea!

This needs no description: Butcher’s Son in Berkeley, CA. Just drop what you’re doing and get there.

I was really happy to see Louisville mentioned in the list of the top ten vegan cities by @vegannomad! So true!
This breakfast was at a lovely inn that I highly recommend for anyone visiting! Inn at the Park/DuPont mansion in old Louisville

Alameda, CA isn’t exactly a hotbed of vegan food, but the falafel burger at Scolaris is the best falafel in the bay. This one is vegan with no modifications, I just went with the lettuce bun to keep things interesting 🙂

I travelled to the outer reaches of San Francisco, the sunset district, for some great Japanese food. Very pleasantly surprised by the number of vegan options at Izakaya Sozai! And of course, plenty of vegan sake

Taipei was definitely one of the most vegan friendly places I’ve ever visited- so many Buddhist vegetarian buffets! The markets also had tons of vegan supplies, including this gem. I know what you’re all thinking– hedgehog is the ONE THING I miss most since going vegan 😉

Oops I missed this one on vegantravel 🙂
It’s nice that no matter where you travel, there’s always a reliable source of vegan calories at a bar 😉 this was on a trip to LA!

I got to spend an awesome year in the Philippines and met more than my fair share of incredibly sweet pigs, oxen, cats, dogs, chickens, bunnies…. I love interacting with animals while traveling because the language barrier is temporarily lifted 🙂

    • Btw Kristen! I’m wondering if you want all of the posts cross-posted on IG and here for this contest?

      • @ejbradfo .. yes please post to both IG and VeganTravel for each entry! 🙂 Also.. what’s going on with the pig on the ground? He looks in bad shape (that wire around his leg and the spray paint on his side) 🙁 🙁

        • Alright will do!
And yeah, that pig had been through a lot. I was visiting an indigenous community in the Philippines, and the hosts had carried her over probably by binding her feet and carrying her upside down, hence the wire/string on her ankle. The spray paint is probably just for identification, and she had some kind of sore that was leaking…[Read more]

Amy’s drive-thru is younger than your book I think, but it’s pretty wonderful for vegan travelers! I just made it there for the second time since they opened and am so happy to report that there are still lines of people and cars for this yummy vegan food!

    • Haha.. that’s right, I do believe it opened just a week before I first visited them, last summer (I was actually up that way for a book signing/reading). 🙂 I liked it a lot!! Exactly what I wanted/was hoping for out of a fast food joint. Did you get a milkshake (they come with those biodegradable straws!!) 🙂

@vegannomad in pdx. This is from a recent (pretty local) trip to an all vegan tea room in Northern California! Awesome feast of delicious organic tea, adorable crustless sandwiches & all kinds of chocolately petit fours! Definitely recommend checking out Muir’s Tea Room if you’re ever passing through Sonoma County/wine country.
