Next time you’re planning a visit to Salem, MA check out Salem Food Tours! They offer 2-3 vegan walking food tours a year and they are SO much fun! Guests get an insider’s look at one of the countries most historic cities while exploring the sometimes unexpected culinary charms of Salem, MA. The rotating tours work to accommodate all types of food preferences (including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free ). As a local Salem resident, Karen Scalia (the founder and your guide) is incredibly well spoken, delightfully entertaining, and seems to take great care and effort in her research and the historical points she shares both related to the city and the food itself. Big ups to Karen’s hard work in building this incredible business—that’s truly a customized and memorable experience—and doing it with effortless pizazz and vigor! I’ve been on three of Karen’s vegan food tours so far and plan to go on many more in the future!

    • Ooo, was the walking tour you did completely vegan? What kinds of goodies does Salem have? I haven’t been to Salem since a school trip in 10th grade, haha.

      • Yep, the tour was fully vegan. They do a vegan one 2-3x a year. We stopped at 7 places including a spice shop, winery, a Japanese restaurant, Life Alive (which is a fully veg/vegan place with awesome whole foods and healthful juices – they have locations in Cambridge and Lowell too); there was also a stop at a veg/vegan bakery called Jodi Bee Bakes, and a new Mediterranean restaurant called Adae’s. Oh and we started the day with a mini tour of The Witch House, which is the only building left in Salem that has direct ties to the witch trials.

        • Sounds great! I think I remember that Witch House. Salem is pretty fun, I’d love to go back someday, and it’s good to know about some of these options. Thanks! 🙂

    • These tours sound so fun! I’ve always wanted to visit Salem, so it’s cool to know that they offer vegan tours like this.
