This place is such a gem! The shop looks very unassuming, and I was a bit skeptical about the vegan options as nothing was labeled, but the staff informed us that the top two selves were vegan! This was most of the doughnuts except for a few on the bottom shelf with sprinkles. Everything looked amazing, and we ended up ordering five doughnuts in our excitement, realizing later that we probably couldn’t finish these all. Oh boy, were we wrong. The doughnuts are all so light and delicious, and have a fair amount of diversity in the selections, and we ate all five of them in a day! My favorites were the chocolate doughnut with creme filling inside as well as the regular glazed doughnut. They also had soy milk for tea and coffee available. Ronald’s Donuts is definitely worth a visit (or two, or three) if you’re in Vegas!!
I didn’t quite have the pleasure of going to Ronald’s for myself so I’m not quite sure about the service or ambience. However, someone from the VeganTravel team was very thoughtful and they brought back these donuts from there…and they were incredible! These are definitely up there on the list with Dun-Well and the Donuttery!
Update: I FINALLY got to check out Ronald’s and I think these have to be my favorite vegan donuts I’ve ever tried! The shop itself is very nostalgic and the varieties of donuts remind me of the ones I used to have before going vegan. You wouldn’t know this shop has so many vegan options until you learn that the entire top two rows are vegan (with twist donuts, cream-filled, maple bars and more). Note that this shop is cash-only but the donuts are incredibly cheap and you can get a ton for very little money. If you stop into Vegas, you MUST visit Ronald’s (and take as many home as possible)!
If the Ronald’s reputation hadn’t preceded it, I would not have assumed this was a place that has vegan donuts. It looks like your average strip mall donut shop– there are no frills here. But hey, the frills aren’t necessary!
Ronald’s has 2 shelves of vegan donuts in the case every day, and they aren’t labeled as such, so I imagine plenty of their clientele is ordering vegan donuts without a second thought because they taste just like any donut I remember pre-veganism. My favorites were the Bostom Cream and the Maple Bar. The texture of these yeast risen treats are so soft and tasty, and glazes are just right.
Ronald’s is popular among vegans visiting Vegas for a reason, don’t miss them!
Ronald’s Donuts is one of those hidden gems out there that almost feels like a secret club. If you don’t know about it, then you would never know it was secretly a vegan haven packed to the brim with vegan donuts. They are a pure cash company so make sure you hit the ATM before going!
When you walk in, the place is pretty non-descript with a few tables and some glass cases housing several rows of donuts in them. You’re greeted with a warm hello from the person behind the register as you make your way up to the counter. We always ask, just to make sure, that the top two rows are all completely vegan, which they confirm they are. After hearing that, we quickly turn into kids in a candy store… or maybe a donut shop.
Aaron has a voracious appetite when it comes to donuts and has been known to demolish 3 or 4 in one sitting without even thinking twice about it. He immediately exclaims that he would like a half dozen of the Boston creme chocolate donuts. With his half dozen out of the way in 3 seconds flat, Hayden takes her time perusing the cases to make sure she gets exactly what she wants. After selecting two maple bars, two apple fritters, and two apple filled glazed donuts, we decided that we could also use a dozen donut holes to go with them.
The vegan donuts are exactly what you would expect from any good donut. They are soft, creamy, decadent, and for a moment you completely forget that these are all vegan. There’s just enough filling in the Boston creme donuts to satisfy your craving, but not too much to where it is overly sweet. The glazed donut holes are slightly bigger than bite-size and disappear almost as quickly as they fill up the bag. The apple fritters were a bit sweeter than Aaron would have liked, but definitely not so sweet that he wouldn’t eat it.
All in all, if you’re a donut person, Ronald’s is a no-brainer. Just remember to bring enough cash! We paid about $16 for a dozen, including the “specialty” donuts, like the Boston cremes.
