Eb & Bean is one of my absolute favorite stops from my recent first trip to Portland, OR (and we’re talking something like 20 different food destinations in four or so days). They’re not just placating vegans by offering a few run-of-the-mill flavor and topping options along with their dairy fare– they’re crafting extremely creative and tasty frozen yogurt for the conscious and compassionate consumer!
During our visit, we sampled all three of their vegan flavors of frozen yogurt, which at the time were Matcha Coconut, Salty Cashew, and Pistachio Turtle. The menu rotates often with equally desirable flavors, from what I understand. We opted to get the Salty Cashew and the Pistachio Turtle served side-by-side, though swirled is also offered.
Eb & Bean offers a wide array of vegan drizzles, magic shells, and other toppings to accompany their already delicious yogurt flavors. We chose the dairy-free “newtella” magic shell, which we were told is made with coconut oil to achieve that nice hardened crunch when the drizzle meets the cold of the frozen yogurt, as well as Tom Bumble crumble and Sift vegan cookie dough.
In addition to the flavors and textures just knocking my socks off, I was really surprised and by how affordable our purchase was, despite the several add-ons and multiple flavors we opted for. I would highly recommend Eb & Bean to anyone looking for a stand-out sweet treat in the Portland area.
Ugh, this place seriously has my heart…and I’ve tried A LOT of vegan ice creams and other desserts. The service was very friendly and immediately knew what items were vegan. It also helps that things are clearly marked, including frozen yogurt flavors and available toppings.
They had unique flavors like matcha coconut soft serve, salty cashew and a pistachio turtle that I couldn’t even tell were vegan! I can’t even tell you how many toppings with a marked “V” that I had to pick from. I’m thinking now about all the combinations of vegan options you could get at this place including the non-dairy frozen yogurt flavors and veg toppings. Overall, I can’t wait to come back here on my next visit to Portland!
