1 Review on “Linger”
Linger is a restaurant featuring small plates from different regions in the world. It’s a great concept because you get to try a lot of different things in one sitting.
The menu clearly marks the items that can be made vegan by request. We ordered 4 dishes and a dessert: Mongolian BBQ bun with crispy tofu, fall faro salad, falafel lettuce wrap, masala dosa, and the mango taiwanese snow ice. They start you off with delicious flavored popcorn before everything begins to come out.
Unfortunately, the first dish (the salad) that came out had cheese in it, despite us mentioning that we were vegan and that everything we ordered was to be made vegan. We notified the server right away and then we were greeted by the manager who apologized for the error and made sure that the kitchen didn’t botch any more of our order. The situation was handled really well by both our server and the manager. We received another salad, some vegan caramels, and the salad was removed from our ticket so that we didn’t have to pay for the error.
The food was pretty good. The second salad was too tart to eat, which was unfortunate, but as a leftover the sour subsided and went back to being a good tasting dish. The masala dosa was delicious and full of flavor and variety. The buns were good but mine seemed to have too much sauce and ended up being overly salty where as my partner’s bun was fine. My favorite of the night was the popcorn and the taiwanese snow ice. The mango flavor was refreshing and I have never had a dessert with such a cool texture and look. The bowl was quite large and my partner and I barely finished it.
Overall, I would visit Linger again but I would caution vegans to 1) mention that you’re vegan at least twice and 2) double check your food in case the kitchen is having an “off” night. I would also say that Linger seems to have some consistency issues when I went, which just could have been that particular night.
