The Lillipad Cafe is situated directly across the road from the ever-popular Rusty’s Markets, and the lively Gilligan’s Backpackers Hotel & Resort. The interior decor is very hippy-slash-backpackers, with vibrant deep-red walls, tables and chairs crammed in to the narrow room, a few eclectic armchairs, and a credenza at the back offering free filtered water, newspapers and street-presses. However, the clientale ranges dramatically, with people from all walks of life venturing in to get their fill. Lillipad’s is a very friendly cafe, where it is not unusual to strike up a conversation with your neighbouring diners. The menu is far from concise and the list is almost overwhelming. There are also gluten free and vegan dishes. The menu offers breakfast and lunch all day from 7am-3pm.

Zeitgeist Cuisine aims to solve the problem of access to plant based food that exists in the city of Sydney. If a tree was planted every time someone said or thought “I cant find good healthy food in the city”, there would be no global warming. Well now there is at 2 locations. Corner of King and Kent St and the corner of Martin Place and Pitt St at Brooklands Coffee Co. All food is sourced and made by people who care about the contents and the provenance of the dish. Vibrations are strong in this cuisine. All food is free from dairy, gluten, refined sugar and is prepared with the environment and your health in mind. Plants have got a bas rep for a long time. So we are here striving to change that for your body and the planet. We hope that you enjoy what we are proud to offer.

The idea behind Lord of the Fries began over late night snack excursions early in 2004. Mandy (Toronto) and Mark (Melbourne) met while living in Taiwan (Tainan). Their love for fries drew them closer, and their disdain for nasty frozen chemical fries inspired them to create the perfect fry. They wanted fresh potatoes, thick but not too thick, crispy but not too crunchy, delicious and saucy, the mission began. It was the beginning of a fast food revolution. Landing in Melbourne in August, 2004, they decided to take the best fries you will ever try to the people! What better way than a mobile chip van now all they needed was a name. This is where Sam (Mark’s brother) comes sizzling into the story. Being a creative wiz, he crowned the venture LORD OF THE FRIES. The Lord was born!! The van was on the road by October and they were traveling around the country serving up golden, crunchy, fries in a cone, with home-made sauces all inspired by flavours found across the globe. The people rejoiced!

Introducing Australia’s first specialty matcha café – Matcha Mylkbar – located on the bustling corner of Acland St and Carlisle St. The Matcha Mylkbar is here to inject a much-needed boost of #cleaneating creativity into the St Kilda food scene. In a bold move, it is entirely plant-based following the eating patterns common to the world’s highest longevity zones, also known as the “blue zones”. But unlike “vegan dining” as it is conventionally perceived, the Matcha Mylkbar menu has been carefully crafted to appeal to more than just the plant-based palate. With world first innovations such as Matcha Mylkbar vegan eggs™ making their debut on the menu, the satiating savoury options are as abundant and mouth-watering as the sweet treats. We have created a completely plant based egg which not only mimics the texture and “yolk” of a traditional egg but also contains the same protein and nutritional value, breaking new ground in plant-based eating. Matcha Mylkbar aims to unlock the benefits of a plant-based matcha-heavy diet without compromising on taste, substance or presentation so that vegans, vegetarians, the dietary intolerant, the dietary ignorant and the dietary indifferent alike can find something to enjoy (none of the founders being strictly vegan themselves). This is plant based eating, as you have never seen it before. As for the beverages, the eponymous matcha of course is the drink of choice featuring in many different forms across the menu. Okinawa in Japan, being one of the five “blue zones” and the city with the highest number of people living to 100, not only owes its longevity to plant based eating but also to high consumption levels of this vibrant green superfood. Matcha will feature alongside other delightful drinkies, including matcha Kombucha, beetroot lattes, and newbie on the health scene, mushroom lattes. Welcome to our world!

It’s this passion for warm family gatherings and unforgettable dishes that led us to bring our love of great food to Australia with Golden Lotus Vegan. Open for lunch and dinner, our restaurant was created specifically for you, as it combines fresh products and traditional Vietnamese fare to create innovative meat-free menu items. We create each dish with a blend of fresh vegetables and herbs, including exotic Asian ingredients not commonly found in your average eatery. At Golden Lotus Vegan, we don’t want to be common — we aim to be memorable. Also available for catering functions, Golden Lotus Vegan offers a healthy, vegan solution to group dining and events. Now, your event can include Asian-inspired foods created to stimulate your senses and spark conversation. We also make the finest tasting coffee in South Australia. Our 100% vegan food is freshly made each morning from whole ingredients, no shortcuts taken using salt, sugar, fat or white flour. We have already received incredible feedback to our food from non-vegetarians, who were originally drawn in by the quality of our coffee then tempted to try something different for lunch. We don’t even tell them that our food is vegan, unless asked. Their experience of delicious, healthy, vegan food is an education and creates a ripple effect in the community that is profound. We invite anyone to come in and ask, discuss or debate our ethos. We’re all in this together and have the same goal.

We aspire to do this by producing food that is nutritious for the body and the development of a balanced mind. We believe in the philosophy of eating well to benefit our body and by doing good to our body, we hope to behave in a compassionate and beneficial manner to others.
