Hectors Restaurant caters for all manner of dietary requirements, paying particular attention to the needs of vegetarians and vegans. We have recently introduced an initiative to promote healthy dining for our customers and sustainable practices for the planet. The majority of produce is sourced within a 50 kilometre radius, reducing our carbon footprint and supporting local farmers and suppliers.
In addition, Hectors Restaurant have menus that are entirely plant-based; resulting in nutritious meals that are free of cholesterol and low in saturated fat, but high in fibre and nutrients. Such commitment to this new approach sees a section of the kitchen declared entirely animal-product free, right through to the coffee machine using only soy and rice milks.

1 Review on “Hectors Restaurant, Heritage Auckland Hotel”
One of the coolest things about this restaurant is that it’s located inside of a very, VERY nice hotel. Why is that so cool? Well, I think about the tens of thousands of people who pass through that place each year. ALL those people being exposed to—at the very least—the concept of vegan food choices. Amazing.
Hector’s Restaurant—located within Heritage Hotel Auckland—is a fine dining establishment with a handful of vegan options on the lunch and dinner menus. But their vegan-friendly-ness doesn’t stop there! Every morning for breakfast they provide heaps of raw vegan options in the form of spreads, jams, yogurts; there’s also different types of breads, Whatbix with non-dairy milk, and more. You can even build-your-own miso soup bowl (which is awesome because (1) I’ve never thought about having miso soup for breakfast before, and (2) BUILD-YOUR-OWN MISO BOWL!)
They ALSO host meatless Mondays at the restaurant (What? Amazing!!), and regular fully-vegan specialty events (like their 5 course vegan dinner in October, to celebrate World Vegan Day).
Again, just think about all their guests passing through expecting it to be like any other ‘meh’ restaurant inside a hotel. Oh no, Hector’s is sooo much more than that!
Oh AND – get this – their coffee bar, located in the lounge at the front of the hotel, is FULLY vegan! What I mean by that is, they ONLY offer non-dairy milks for their coffee and lattes. How incredible is that?!
Thank you, Hector’s for being here. We need you. <3
