Vegan ramen restaurant. Also serves salads and a few other main course options. Last order 10pm.
Located inside Tokyo Station on the end of Keiyo Street, on the train side of the station, so you must be taking a train or you must buy a platform ticket.
Find the food and shopping area known as Keiyo Street and you will be able to find the restaurant.
T’s Tantan is located inside of Tokyo Station on Keiyo Street (yes, the station is so huge it actually has its own streets inside). Keiyo Street is near the South Yaesu Exit, so follow signs toward that exit until you see signage that says “Keiyo Street”. If you are at the far end of the station, you may have to follow signs toward the Central Yaesu Exit until signs for the South Yaesu Exit appear. As is the case for all Tokyo Station restaurants and shops, you need to enter the station with a JR Rail Pass, Suica Card, or an individual train/subway ticket. Once you find T’s Tantan, don’t worry if there’s a long line outside…turnover is quick.
T’s Tan Tan offers several types of ramen, including “white” (sesame, bean sprouts, and thick green onion in a spicy broth: this one is my favorite, it really clears out your sinuses!), “green” (ramen piled high with fresh greens and includes some kabocha squash), “shoyu” (soy-sauce based broth), “red” (tomato base) and more. A bowl of ramen will set you back about 850 yen. They also have salads and curry rice, and can provide a “big helping” for a few hundred yen more. Everything is vegan, as the pictures and text on the walls proudly proclaim.
One striking thing about the shop is that they seem to come from all walks of life, not just yoga-pants-wearing folks with dreadlocks or crunchy thrift store types (guilty). When I asked the manager about the clientele, he estimated that about half of them come to the restaurant specifically because they are vegetarian or otherwise healthfully-inclined. “There aren’t that many vegan restaurants in Japan, so people come from far away to eat here,” he says. But the rest are just people who just happen by during their commute, enticed by the good smells and sights coming out of the store.
An English menu is available for those who want it, and the menu is illustrated so it’s easy to pick and point. The staff also speaks a little English (and some speak Taiwanese). Beer and soft drinks are available.

T’s Tan Tan is located in Tokyo station so it is extremely convenient to stop by every time you might happen to be passing through, and we did-several times.
T’s is a completely vegan ramen noodle diner that is a must visit if you’re in Tokyo. Their soup bowls are huge and the ramen is incredibly tasty.
We lapped up several bowls of savoury ramen, spicy ramen, ramen with avocado and corn, soy meat ramen, and miso ramen.
We also tried their amazing massaman curry with brown rice, and their soy meat bowl with brown rice topped with pickled turnip.
We traveled a lot by train during our 15 days in Japan so we decided to become regulars at T’s Tan Tan.
I am still recovering from going here today and getting THE BIGGEST BOWL OF SOUP EVER. This was my first experience with vegan ramen and I very sincerely hope it will not be my last. It was so incredibly delicious that it allllmost made up for how disappointed I was to find that the soya meat and the curry were sold out when we went. Fortunately, the big soup bowls distracted me from that. Maybe if I pass through Tokyo station again, I’ll see if they have the soya meat on.
Also, don’t be afraid of the SUPER HOT soup. It is not SUPER HOT. It’s really quite nice,
I love ramen, so an entirely vegan ramen place was an incredibly exciting prospect for me. T’s Tantan did not disappoint! We went there slurped up our giant bowls of ramen alarmingly quickly, and already knew that we would soon be back. There are several different ramens to choose from, and they have a set meal, allowing you to get a bowl of curry on the side. Just writing this out is making me hungry for more.
The restaurant itself is always incredibly busy, but with a really fast turnover – so, really, don’t be alarmed by the large line outside of the shop. As with many places in Japan, although it can get extremely busy, it is a relatively quiet place to go eat.
I absolutely ADORE Ts Tantan! I ate here everytime I was in Tokyo station 🙂 ! I’m a big fan of their spicy ramen, so that’s usually what I would always order. But I have also had the smile curry, which I would totally recommend!
The service is very quick and the staff is very attentive! You don’t have to worry about missing your train, and the food is GREAT! My favorite part about T’s is that you can buy their ingredients to take home, and they also have their own cookbook! The cookbook saved my life while living in Japan, it had so many great recipes!
This place was so hard to find! It may completely be because we were fresh off the plane and starving and had little patience, but the train station has a lot of little (and big) streets within it, and I couldn’t find T’s tantan on any of the maps. Eventually we did find it, it’s on the end of Keiyo Street, on the train side of the station, so you need a ticket to get to this restaurant (I know the JR tickets work, but I’m not sure about the others).
Once inside, we were quickly seated and handed English menus. One of the items was sold out, but we both got to try very satisfying, giant bowls of ramen. It hit the spot for our needs, and it was tasty, but it wasn’t really special, if you ask me. Still, a great option for when you’re passing through the Tokyo Station and in need of a quick, tasty, filling meal.
