Tosca is an all-vegan restaurant in Kyoto run by two sisters. The restaurant has a casual, laid back, friendly atmosphere. At least one of the sisters went to high school in Australia, so they speak English well and understand all special questions. There are a few seasonal options on the menu, each one available as a set meal. The food is Japanese/fusion.

Oh my goodness, this place is such a find. Located near Kyoto University, and conveniently on the way to the Ginkakuji temple (the silver temple), this place is cozy, has incredibly friendly service, and best of all, the food was amazing. I had a seitan burger, and I was in such a hurry to eat it all that I burnt my mouth, but it was worth it. This was definitely the best seitan burger I’ve ever had, and one of the best seitan in general I’ve had, the perfect combination of chewy and crumbly and juicy and amazing. You can order the dishes on their own, or part of a set menu, which includes a salad, a little appetiser, and a sweet. My dad had a tempura tofu dish, which was good too, and he really enjoyed, but I just couldn’t get over how good my burger was to enjoy his meal properly. Seriously. GET THE BURGER.
