Rootcandi showcases what you can do with plant-based food, all served tapas style. Opened in August of 2015, Rootcandi was born out of dissatisfaction with the quality of plant-based and vegan options in other restaurants, and the desire to provide something new, fresh and exciting. After a successful limited opening, the team at Rootcandi decided to open up full-time service in January of 2016.

Purezza (purity) was formed by Stefania Evangelisti and Tim Barclay in 2015, setting out to provide a range of exciting Italian plant-based, vegan options to the UK. Those who are lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, plus vegetarians and vegans alike, can find it challenging to eat out, or get a takeaway, as there is a high chance of cross-contamination. Pizzerias and restaurants will tend to prepare all vegan food on the same preparation tables, using the same hands and cook using the same ovens, yet still class the food as suitable for those who choose not to eat it. Purezza has changed this, by creating a destination where everyone can enjoy high quality Italian food, cooked by top Italian chefs, in the comfort of a completely animal free zone (and mostly gluten free too). Leaving you to eat out worry free. Food is not only healthier (and tastier!) at Purezza, it’s also lower much in calories; pizzas are between 480 – 620 calories. Compared to a ‘typical’ pizza, from a fast food chain or supermarket, this is the equivalent of just 2 or 3 slices. The fresh ingredients used in Purezza are hand selected each morning to ensure they are of the highest quality. Great care and responsibility is taken every day to ensure that everything from the food, to the coffee, to the packaging and recycling are as environmentally friendly as possible. To experience Purezza, reserve a table by calling ahead.

We offer a wide range of delicious, freshly cooked, organic vegetarian food to the Brighton community. Our food is inspired by seasonal variety and infused with a diversity of cultural and culinary tradition, available to eat in or take away. The café is a light, airy and open plan with ample seating on two levels. In summer and on hot sunny days, tall, ‘French’ doors can be opened out into the street where there is extra outside seating. Extra space upstairs offers ideal people-watching opportunities out onto the street below as well as housing regular exhibitions from local artists and printmakers. There is wheelchair access to our ground floor which has a seating area but our toilets are only accessible by a flight of stairs. Please phone us if you have any queries. We have high-chairs for kids and baby changing facilities. We provide free internet access to our customers but cannot guarantee this during our busy periods (12-2pm). There are gluten-free options on our menu, but please bear in mind that our dishes are made in a kitchen that contains wheat. We do our best to avoid cross-contamination but if your are coeliac, please advise us before ordering.
