Chase Hospitality Group opened Planta to create delicious food that promotes environmental sustainability. CHG partnered with Chef David Lee to fill a void in the market of upscale, full service, plant-based dining options. The restaurant’s vision is to celebrate innovative cuisine in a beautiful environment without the use of any animal products.
There’s more to responsible plant-based eating then just taking animals off the plate and our commitment to using high quality products from ethical suppliers provides the foundation for our chefs to be proud of the food they serve.

Planta is a very nice (and pricey) fine dining experience in Toronto. The style inside and out is clean and minimalist, though the service overall felt more casual. It’s an obviously popular spot, especially for a Friday night, so be sure to make a reservation ahead of time.
Our group shared a variety of things, and my favorites were the chicken fried mushrooms, the truffle fries, the crab cakes, and the decadent brownie they sent out for dessert, but everything was delicious. Seriously, though, don’t sleep on the brownie, it has everything you could ever dream of – avocado frosting, chocolate gelato, beautiful coconut whipped cream, toasted hazelnuts, the works.
For me, Planta is not an anytime restaurant, but I’d love to go back and try their brunch one day, the menu looks lovely!
Planta was a unique fine dining experience that I’m so thankful to have had while visiting Toronto. Though the restaurant was very dark when we went for dinner time (which was my only main complaint for photographs), the ambience was nice and you could tell that this place gets a lot of attention from locals. Our group mostly split an assortment of starters and other incredible dishes, including the Truffle Fries, Chicken Fried Mushrooms, Queso Dip, Crab Cakes, and Lettuce Wraps. We also sampled some of the Italian Job pizza and The Planta Burger which were also really tasty, although not as good as the other dishes we tried. The staff was very sweet and even brought out this brownie with chocolate avocado frosting, ice cream and coconut whip and it was just delightful.
Overall Planta really blew me away and I wasn’t even that hungry when we came here for dinner! I do think this place may be out of the average traveler’s budget but it’s absolutely worth it to make a reservation here for a special occasion. I really want to try their brunch someday, though it looks like something that’s only offered on Sundays.
