• D IS FOR DELHI, INDIA.

Delhi is one of the most polluted city’s in the world, but don’t let that
    put you off.

Spend a few days here walking through the vibrant markets, enjoying delicious veg thali, and sorting through some of the most beautiful textiles around,

all while wondering how the hell there aren’t more collisions on the road…[Read more]

  • C is for Curaçao.

Although Curaçao wasn’t one of our favourite destinations, we still enjoyed the tropical fruit, the sunny weather, and every moment with our stray friends who were taken care of by CARF Curacao

Curaçao Animal Rights Foundation (CARF) was founded on May 29, 2008. CARF is committed to protect and safeguard the welfare of (s…[Read more]

  • B is for Bhutan

We were invited by a good friend- who at the time was Bhutan’s manager for HSI -as volunteers to contribute to Humane Society International’s National Dog Population Management and Rabies Control Programme in Bhutan.

Not surprisingly, we jumped at the chance to visit a country very high on our bucket list, and to be a part of s…[Read more]

  • Since we are now back in Canada, we thought we would start posting the ABC’s of our travels from the last 5 years.
Every few days we will be alphabetically posting a new photo of a place we’ve visited during our travels.

It feels like less than 5 years, but in January 2012, Giselle and I left our jobs, said goodbye to Canada, and set out on an…[Read more]

  • This past weekend we paid a visit to Beechwood Donuts in St. Catherines, Niagara Falls, and holy man are their doughnuts ever good!!

They are the closest we have had to the yeasty classic donut of our non-vegan days.

My personal fave is the birthday cake.

A doughnut filled with light whipped cream, and topped with mashed vanilla birthday…[Read more]

  • The day has finally come! The @vegantravel team has arrived in Ontario and we are excited!

We had a great time in Niagara Falls! We chugged maple syrup, sang Leonard Cohen songs, sampled some brewskie’s, visited a Tim Hortons, and of course admired the falls.

We’re pumped to show @alan, @shannon, and @jaclynmiller a good time around the big…[Read more]

  • While we were travelling in Thailand, Giselle’s Mom told us about a new vegan restaurant she discovered in Mississauga. Dat Bi Chay, aka The Great Compassion, is an all Vegetarian Vietnamese restaurant with an extensive menu.

Giselle’s Mom treated us and her two cousins to a delicious lunch. It was so hard to pick one item so we ended up…[Read more]

  • Only a few more hours before we head to the BKK airport to make the LONG journey back to Canada.

Bangkok – Shanghai (10 hour layover) – Calgary- Saskatoon.

Of course we have to make our way to May Veggie Home for one of our last meals.

  • Throwback to 2013 when we travelled to the beautiful country of Burma/Myanmar.

We had no idea what to expect from this relatively quiet southeast Asian country. We discovered some of the most genuine locals who were always wanting to talk and thank us for visiting their home, so many delicious vegan options EVERYWHERE, and a slower more relaxed…[Read more]

  • But I don’t want to have only one dessert!!!

We have arrived in Kuala Lumpur for an unexpected visa run from Thailand.

Our visas were up on a Sunday and immigration is closed on Sundays, so we didn’t want to risk the fine or worst-being blacklisted from Thailand for a few years, so we hopped on a flight to KL for a few days.

If you need us, we’ll just be catching up on some work, eating…[Read more]

Throwback Thursday to that time I made friends in Kalaw, Burma.

    • These are the kinds of friends I want to make.

  • For the past 2 weeks this charming and affectionate little boy has been greeting us on the land, and hangs around all day while we are working.

We are pretty sure he even stays after we leave.

I think it’s safe to say that we have a new resident who has moved in, and we couldn’t be happier!

    Look at that face! <3
He knows we are suckers for…[Read more]
