Hi! We’re about ten people (and a dog!) planning for a ski- and/or winter trip, somewhere in the french alps or countries nearby, for a week in early january, Is it someone here that has been somewhere vegan friendly around there? seems a little difficult to find something both ski-,vegan-, and dog friendly in those areas – but hopefully we’ve just looked porly with bad luck 😉 To cook by ourselves could also be an option. All tips are very welcome! 🙂

    • Sounds like you are going to have an amazing time! I haven’t skied the Alps yet, but I thought of a couple of general tips if you run into difficulties finding vegan options. We have had a lot of success in asking the chefs in the restaurants if they could make something special for us. And the other suggestion is there are lots of quick & easy things you could make back at your room. A couple of examples are couscous with vegetable broth and whatever veggies you can find locally. The other is a travel staple of mine – mashed chickpea with vegan mayo sandwiches. The later is great to take to the slopes with you. Have a great time! 🙂

    • Thanks for answer! 🙂 agree about that asking the restaurants use to be a great idea! some in the group dont want to eat in a place where meat is served to any other guest either though, So probably we’ll go for cooking together, if we do not find any 100% vegan place around. Thank you, have a nice weekend 🙂

    • I’ve skied around Switzerland and France… the chance of finding 100% vegan places is very small… the best best would be to rent somewhere with a kitchen so you can cook. Big cities on your way in/out of the alps will be easier to find places. What area are you looking at??

    • Thanks 🙂 🙂 Ah, I see.. M, I guess we’ll end up renting some cabin or similar like that 🙂 at the moment we’re looking for places in Andorra, a few people in the group knew about some great places for snow etc around there in january. But, we’re pretty open to what location it will be, so maybe Switzerland could be an option as well. At what time during the year were you there?

      • I lived in France/Switzerland for 2 years, and I’ve visited since then in Feb/March. Most places have decent snow by the end of January. I’ve never been down to the Andorra region, but I’d love to visit there!

Major cities like Geneva, Zurich, Lyon will all have veg options, but once you’re in the mountains, places can accommodate vegans, like Alan suggested, but won’t be meat free.
