We are a vegan home. We make food for Vegans, Raw Vegans and Gluten-Free Vegans. We are in the Costa Blanca North region of Spain in Denia. There are two vegan restaurants close by, and a huge ecological market every Friday. The busy town is within walking distance or by bus and the sandy beaches are a few steps away. We also recommend going to the Jesus Pobre market every Sunday (we can take you), they have wonderful Spanish Tapas like pea pies, spinach pies, olives, beers all for a very small price and you can browse all the pretty market stalls in this very picturesque village.

It smells of incense, as one can listen to the meditation music in the background and hear the flow of water from the fountain. At almost every corner of this captivating place, from guest rooms to common areas, there are dreamcatchers. These artifacts can be traced back to the native people of North America who used to make them by hand, as symbols of protection from nightmares and enablers of only beautiful dreams. And these happen to be the same positive vibes the Dreamcatcher Team wants to send its guests as they walk in the main door.

Villa Fauna is a vegan bed & breakfast located on a lush mountain above the town of San Mateo (1,500 ft up), in the Central Valley of Costa Rica. Our 2.75 acre land offers an incredible ocean view of the Gulf of Nicoya, lovely breezes, and lower temperatures and humidity than most places in Costa Rica. At mid day, temperatures are usually around 78-88 degrees, and at night, temperatures dip down into the mid 60s. We are just a few minutes from the fruit capital of Costa Rica, Orotina, and its restaurants, farmers’ markets, and stores, 20 minutes from Turu Ba Ri Eco-Adventure Park (fantastic zip lining, canopy tour, nature tours/hiking, hanging bridges, and skytram), 20 minutes from swimmable waterfalls, 30-45 minutes from several Pacific beaches (Punta Leona, Herradura, and Jaco), and 40 minutes from the SJO airport. We have created a tour guide to help you create an itinerary, choose tours, and know what to expect for each one, once you book with us. Villa Fauna has landscaped trails throughout the property, a pool, patio, roofed outdoor bar with fans, a fire pit for our cool nights and stargazing, a new lounge, multiple verandas, lots of new comfortable seating, and 2 newly constructed suites. We have fresh spring water (all water in Costa Rica is drinkable) and we are surrounded by gorgeous flora, animals, and breezy, expansive views. Our vegan menu caters to high-raw vegans, as well as open minded omnivores. Villa Fauna is owned and operated by us, 2 Baltimore natives. We appreciate a vegan lifestyle, healthy living (with a few splurges here and there), and animal and nature lovers (we are surrounded by nature and have 3 rescue dogs). We hope to have guests that are open to our plant based lifestyle and dishes (for ethical, environmental, and health reasons) even if they are not vegan. We feel confident that vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores will enjoy our food and the beauty and quiet of our mountain. We want our guests to fully experience and enjoy everything Villa Fauna has to offer, so if your party is the first to reserve 2 of our suites for at least 1 week, we will not book any other parties during those dates. If there is a party which has already reserved your desired dates, we will inform you that there will be other guests here during your stay. We also want to be honest with our guests. We do not recommend planning your vacation from September 15th – November 15th. During this time, there is strong rain or thunderstorms almost every afternoon, evening, and/or night. Please inquire if you have any questions about which time of the year is best suited for your party. Suites (see our Facebook page for pricing information) (3 night minimum please) *Breakfast and coffee each morning is included in prices* The Azul Suite: This is a brand new suite with a 1 queen bedroom (memory foam mattress), new furniture and decor, private bathroom, private living room with sofa and T.V., large sliding glass doors, recessed LED lighting, and private entrance with roofed veranda. Towels and paper products are provided. The Azul and the Violetta Suites are adjoined by a wooden locking door. This allows for an ideal situation if your party is larger. If your party is small and you do not need both suites, we will lock the door for total privacy and separation. The Violeta Suite: This is a newly constructed suite with a 2 queen bedroom (memory foam mattresses), new furniture and decor, private bathroom, private living room with 2 lay-down sofas and T.V., large sliding glass doors, recessed LED lighting, and private entrance with veranda. Towels and paper products are provided. The Verde Suite: This suite includes 1 queen bedroom with T.V., large window, bathroom, high ceilings, recessed LED lighting, and is just a few steps from the exit to the lower wrap around veranda of the main Villa. Towels and paper products are provided. At Villa Fauna, you will have access to… The pool and patio where you can enjoy drinks and food poolside or under the roofed bar, with seating, ceiling fans, and wifi. Sit back in the pool chairs or floats and savor the sun, hummingbirds, brightly colored plants, and privacy. Our large veranda with a spectacular ocean view, especially at sunset, with new, locally handmade Costa Rican outdoor seating and tables, an area for Yoga, and wifi. Various locations on the property to spot toucans, as well as other beautifully colored birds and iguanas, daily. Monkeys and other wildlife can also be seen. Our landscaped, hand-railed, and lighted trails throughout the property where fruit and flora grow. Our indoor lounge with large windows, plenty of new, comfortable seating, a bar, wifi, and music and games. Our fire pit for looking at the phenomenally bright stars and moon, and enjoying the cool night air. Our beach chairs and cooler (no cost). A small cellphone can be rented from us for local or long distance calls. We recommend calling your cell phone company so that you may use your own cell phone while staying in Costa Rica, and can take advantage of the WAZE app to help with your navigation. Information, details, and advice (from us, locals) on tours (what to expect, what to bring and wear, length of time, prices, reservations), restaurants, beaches (whether you want a white sand or dark sand beach, waves or calm water, isolated or with restaurants/bars/shops, instructions for free access), help with directions, explanation about U.S. dollar and colones exchange, and answering any questions that you may have throughout your vacation. Getting Here/Transportation… When you first arrive, we offer a meeting place in Orotina (about 10 minutes away) so that you can follow us to Villa Fauna (no cost). We strongly suggest renting a GPS along with your car rental, in order to locate points of interest, as Costa Rica’s locations usually do not have actual addresses. If you’d prefer for us to meet you at your car rental company by the airport, or you will be renting our guest vehicle (Suzuki Sidekick) and need a pickup from the airport, for a fee. Please inquire if you are interested in renting our guest vehicle on a daily basis to learn about availability and pricing. We also have a tour book and contact information for a Tour and Taxi Company that we have personally used. We also offer transportation and act as tour guides for some activities. Our Cabina The Villa Fauna Cabina is ideal for long term rental, as it is separate from the main Villa and suites, and includes 1 queen bedroom, bathroom, living room with pullout sofa and T.V., front porch, small kitchen with stove top, microwave, toaster, and small fridge. If our cabina is not in use for long term rental, and your party is larger than what the Azul, Violeta, and Verde suites can accommodate, the cabina may be available for short term rental (which would include breakfast, ordering from our menus, access to all of Villa Fauna).

Nested by the gates of the Old Port of Montreal, near the St-Lawrence river and by the remnants of the fortress wall, the Hotel Champ-de-Mars offers unique and affordable accommodations to travelers of all types. Built in 1898, the recently renovated hotel retains much of the charm of its roots as a rooming house and tavern favored by sailors. The most popular activities in Old Montreal include leisurely strolls, general visits and simply hanging out. This reflects the rich heritage value of Old Montreal, its friendly and warm atmosphere, unique architecture and recreational and tourist attractions that contribute to a relaxing visit. HISTORY In the 18th century, the city of Montreal banned the construction of wooden buildings inside its fortified perimeter. This action resulted in the poorest inhabitants being forced to sell their lots of land and move into the “suburbs”. The growth of the suburbs and the demolition of the original city walls original, which began soon after 1800, slowly forged the former fortified town and the suburbs into one entity. A real new city was taking shape with its own river front and port, military esplanade, a new market that would later be turned into Place Jacques-Cartier, monuments and great public buildings, such as the monument to Admiral Nelson, a courthouse and Bonsecours Market. The growth of the city and increasing wealth presented opportunities for ambitious entrepreneurs. In 1898 Joseph Moreau erected a four-story building close to the bustling port and opened the Hotel Le Relais. In 1911, Joseph Moreau transferred the hotel to two of his children, Joseph and Maria, who immediately rented the hotel to Napoleon Geoffroy. The hotel was also known as a tavern. It was in fact, a favorite hangout for many of the port workmen and sailors. In 1920, the hotel was rented to Ernest Henry Girard. Along with his brother, he would renew the lease until 1960 when they finally purchased the hotel, still under the corporate name Hotel Le Relais, from Joseph Moreau. From 1972 to 1998, the hotel went through several owners and names. The lack of stability and resulting disrepair forced the closing of the hotel. In 2000, it was given a new lease of life. Major renovations ensured a 21st century functionality to the hotel but yet did not encroach on the charm left by its rich history. Now named L’Hotel Champ-de-Mars, we hope to continue the building’s tradition of providing great service and comfort to all those who come to live the experience that is Montreal. The Hotel Champ-de-Mars is located at the eastern main entrance of the Old Port of Montreal, on 756 and 764 Berri Street. The street’s name is said to come from Simon Després, known as Le Berry, a wealthy landowner who was killed by Iroquois in 1663. The northern façade of the hotel is bordered by St-Louis Street, formerly the main road of the little suburb St-Louis, which had developed just outside the fortifications during the 1740’s. The southern façade of the hotel is bordered by the Parc de Ville-de-la-Flèche, which commemorates Jérôme Le Royer de la Dauversiere’s town of origin. He is the founder of the Société Notre-Dame, an integral force behind the foundation of Montreal in 1643. The Hotel Champ-de-Mars is also located near Place Jacques-Cartier, one of the liveliest spots in Montreal, where, for generations, people have gathered and reveled. Place Jacques-Cartier named after the famous explorer owes its existence to Jean Baptiste Périnaud’s conveyance to Jean-Baptiste Durocher, dated back to 1803, where it is specified that the square should always be kept as a public market. The city of Montreal is to this day bound by this clause. Nowadays, the Old Port of Montreal is laid out to maximize the convenience and pleasure of visitors. Here, they can enjoy adventurous trips on the river, continuous street animation and performances, expositions, the Imax Theater, the iSi center and bicycle paths all along the riverfront. During the winter months, visitors can admire ice sculptures, skate, explore aboard horse drawn carriages and take part in a great deal of other activities and festivities.

We think a hostel in Montreal should offer a vibrant style that surprises but is still comfortable. So far, it’s a work in progress. Don’t worry though, no one is working at the moment. We’re taking ideas and looking for artists.

Situated between old Montreal and the Latin Quarter, the two most entertaining districts of the city. Renown for their rich history and lively atmosphere, you will have endless possibilities to enjoy within walking distance. Constructed in 1867, the same year Canada officially became a nation our property has recently seen a complete refurbishment, maintaining the original authenticity by elaborating ornate stone masonry and the unique native architecture. Located within a 30 second walk from St-Catherine Street, the largest and most diverse shopping and amusement thoroughfare in the city is right outside your doorstep.
